NOTE: Our super-group status has run out, this means that we won't be able to use polls or place thumbs in our blogs anymore, as you can see from this journal entry. It costs $60 to renew super group status. I know that's a lot... but if you would like to donate any money - even a dollar - to the fund to make us a super group please send it via paypal to pborawski@gmail.com AND YOU MUST give your deviant name AND say it's for ArtForTheEscape or I won't know which group it's for.
If you donate any amount of money to the cause, your name will be placed on our front page and you'll get a special feature once we can put thumbs in our journals again!
Initial Need: $60
Raised: $30 THANK YOU!
Still Need: $30

New Art Project: OCD: Obsessive Compulsive DisorderDeadline: June 4OCD is something that many people suffer from in one degree or another, probably more people than one would suspect. It's the fourth most common mental illness, in fact the stats say 1 in 50 people in the USA have it. I'd like to see your art that somehow symbolizes or illustrates any part of OCD that you'd like, or that you suffer from personally. This is totally open to your interpretation.
OCD is an anxiety disorder characterized by intrusive thoughts that produce anxiety, by repetitive behaviors aimed at reducing anxiety, or by a combination of such thoughts (obsessions) and behaviors (compulsions). The symptoms of this anxiety disorder may include repetitive hand-washing; extensive hoarding; preoccupation with sexual or aggressive impulses, or with particular religious beliefs; aversion to odd numbers; and nervous habits, such as opening a door and closing it a certain number of times before one enters or leaves a room. These symptoms can be alienating and time-consuming, and often cause severe emotional and economic loss. The acts of those who have OCD may appear paranoid and come across to others as psychotic. However, OCD sufferers generally recognize their thoughts and subsequent actions as irrational, and they may become further distressed by this realization. (from wikipedia.org)
For information or help with OCD visit www.ocfoundation.org or www.ocdonline.com.
No limit on submissions, except please submit only once per day. This will be submitted into our Gallery under "OCD" - please be sure to submit in the right place or it won't be counted for the project. I will publish a news article with all submissions at the end of this project.
